North Carolina is chock full 'o great small towns. I spent time in one of those this weekend, grabbing some grub and a few beers in Waynesville.

This ranking of the top 17 small cities comes courtesy of the website, citiesjournal.com. I haven't visited all of them, so I can't critically analyze their effort, nor would I want to. Surely there are some missing, but that's the way it goes, and this list won't make or break any municipality.

As expected, several WNC cities made the list. My only question is...why did they use a picture of Biltmore under the listing of Black Mountain? Yeah, um, they're only about 15-20 miles apart...and have nothing to do with each other.

There's plenty of scenic vistas worthy of display, like Cherry Street, the Depot, or my favorite spot...the golf course. Click the pic for the full list and story.
