Portions of the French Broad River are now safer for recreational use.
Buncombe County health officials lifted a water use advisory yesterday that was put in place after more than a thousand gallons of fuel leaked into the river earlier this month.
The fuel reportedly spilled from a fuel tank at Mountain Energy, close to the River Arts District in Asheville.
Recent water quality testing reveals no volatile compounds or oil sheen remains in the water.
