(Candler, NC) -- A Candler man is facing charges in connection to a deadly hit-and-run last weekend. He was arrested after state troopers received a tip on Monday. A man visiting Western North Carolina from New York died after being hit by a car on Monte Vista Road late Saturday night. The suspect was charged with felony hit-and-run and three other counts.

(Haywood County, NC) -- The Blue Ridge Parkway is no longer the most visited spot among the country's National Park sites. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco took back the top spot for 2018. The parkway had around a million-and-a-half less visitors for the year compared with 2017. Baby Dies After Dog Attack In Salisbury
(Salisbury, NC) -- Investigators say a six-month-old was mauled to death by a dog in Salisbury yesterday. A babysitter had allegedly gone outside her home on Wilson Road to clean out the back seat of her car when the boxer-pit bull mix dog attacked. Salisbury police said the babysitter ran back inside when the child's mother began screaming. The baby died at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
More Suspects Arrested In Election Fraud Investigation
(Raleigh, NC) -- Four more people are facing charges connected to the election fraud investigation in the 9th Congressional District. Three have been arrested since Saturday for conspiracy to commit felony obstruction of justice and possession of absentee ballots. The SBI is still looking for one suspect. Political operative McRae Dowless was the first person arrested in relation to the investigation last week, which led to the call for a new election in the district.
Duke Energy Fires Back Against Environmental Report

The Environmental Integrity Project and Earthjustice reported that cobalt from coal ash dumps at Belmont's Allen Steam Station is leaking into groundwater more than 500 times over the safe level. The power company says that drinking water around Duke facilities are well-protected.
Man Who Allegedly Assaulted Two Women Accused Again
(Charlotte, NC) -- The CMPD says a man suspected of assaulting two women last Saturday also beat a 78-year-old man two days before. Eugene Hazen is accused of pulling the man out of his car at the Food Lion on Beatties Ford Road last Thursday and hitting him with a metal object. He is already facing charges in the assault of two women just hours apart on Saturday afternoon in Charlotte. Court records reveal that Hazen was released from jail in February for another assault and kidnapping.
Closing Arguments Today In Borum Murder Trial
(Charlotte, NC) -- Closing arguments will be heard today in the murder trial of Rayquan Borum. He's accused of murdering a man outside the Omni Hotel during the Charlotte riots in 2016. Borum decided not to take the stand yesterday to testify in front of the jury. The judge turned down the defense's request to have the jury consider manslaughter when they deliberate.

Sports radio host Errol Reese is from Birmingham, and he says on Monday he learned that eight of his relatives in Lee County, Alabama were killed by tornadoes. He says he's going down to help in any way he can. More than 20-thousand-dollars have already been raised through a GoFundMe for his first-cousin Ernestine who survived.
NC DMV Headquarters Is Closer To Moving To Rocky Mount

A Man Is Charged With Attempted Murder After Apparently Shooting At A Trooper
(Orange Co., NC) -- An Orange County man is accused of shooting at a State Trooper. Police say Trooper Evan Dix tried to pull over 20-year-old Tyler Grantz on I-40 East for speeding yesterday morning, but he crashed trying to get away. State Police say Grantz fired a gun at the officer and ran away. The officer wasn't hit. The car was stolen, and among the charges against Grantz is attempted murder of a police officer. He's behind bars on one-million-dollars bond.
Two More Arrests Are Made In Connection To District 9 Race Election Fraud Investigation
(New Hanover Co., NC) -- Two more arrests have been made in connection to election fraud in North Carolina's Ninth Congressional District. McCrae Dowless had already been free on bond when he was arraigned yesterday on election-related charges. Tonia Gordon and Matthew Mathis were also charged with felonious obstruction of justice and illegal possession of an absentee ballot. They were indicted with Dowless accused of illegally collecting absentee ballots.

(undated) -- According to a study of Millennials, Raleigh is the second best city to live in America. Liveability-dot-com reports that they surveyed one-thousand Millennials about things like economics, demographics, and education in more than a thousand-cities. Boise, Idaho was the only city that ranked higher than Raleigh. The website praised North Carolina's Capitol about how much there is for folks to do. They also touted the city's clean, green and entrepreneurial nature. Greenville, South Carolina also ranked in the list's top ten.
Baby Attacked By Dog In Salisbury
(Salisbury, NC) -- An investigation is underway in Salisbury after a baby was mauled to death by his babysitter's dog. It happened yesterday afternoon at the babysitter's home near Wilson and Old Plank roads. Police say the babysitter's boxer/pit bull mix attacked the six-month-old boy while he was sitting in her living room. He died at the hospital. Animal control took custody of the dog.
Student Accused Of Making Threats, Bringing Bullets To School
(Winston-Salem, NC) -- A 13-year-old student in Winston-Salem is accused of bringing bullets to school and making threats. The student attends Northwest Middle School. Officers were investigating a case of disorderly conduct when they noticed multiple bullets inside the student's book bag. Police say the student did not threaten fellow students, rather law enforcement officers at the scene and school administrators. Criminal charges are pending.

Suspect Wanted In Randolph Co. Stabbing
(Randolph Co. NC) -- Randolph County deputies are looking for the suspect in connection with a stabbing. Thirty-year-old Julio Palacios is accused of stabbing a woman in the Northside Terrace area on Monday. The victim told police Palacios fled to a neighbor's home after the stabbing. He's still at large. Palacios is wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injuries.
Person Shot In Road-Rage Incident In Randolph Co.
(Randolph Co., NC) -- A person is recovering after a road-rage shooting in Randolph County. The scene unfolded last night near Mack and McDowell roads, southwest of Asheboro. Authorities say the victim was shot in the arm. They have not released any information about a possible suspect. An investigation is underway.
