Peter Frampton Readies 'Do You Feel Like I Do?' Memoir

With his live performing career almost in the rearview, Peter Frampton is focusing on his memoir, Do You Feel Like I Do?, set for an October 20 release.

The tome documents Frampton's career, from his friendship and work with the likes of David Bowie, to his drug-abuse battles and to developing his signature 'talk box' effect. It was co-written with Rolling Stone editor Alan Light.

"This is my journey," Frampton said in a statement. "All I ever wanted to do was play guitar and it's taken me many different places — physically and mentally. I've been to the moon and back without a rocket, but also to the depths of despair. You never stop paying your dues. Failure has been my greatest inspiration. I brush myself off and then I want to 'do it again.'"

Frampton completed his final U.S. tour last fall after revealing that he is suffering from a rare inflammatory muscle disease that it likely to soon rob him of his ability to play the guitar.

The book deals with his recent struggles, but also tells stories of the "blessing and curse" of his legendary 1976 Frampton Comes Alive! live album and the curious lost-and-found case of a guitar that disappeared after a plane crash in 1980 and "mysteriously showed up again" in 2011.

The legendary guitarist's final concert is scheduled for June 18 in Barcelona, Spain. See all the remaining tour dates here.
