(Canton, NC) -- Millions in state funding will go towards helping Haywood recover from flood damages suffered nearly a year ago. This year's budget allocates 23-million-dollars across the area. Suspect Charged In July 4th Asheville Assault

(Asheville, NC) -- A suspect is facing charges for allegedly assaulting an officer in downtown Asheville. The police department say the 64-year-old man initially attacked and pepper-sprayed a person during July 4th events. He allegedly then grabbed an officer by the throat during an attempted arrest. Charges include assault by strangulation and resisting a public officer.

Homemade Bomb Found In Waynesville

(Waynesville, NC) -- The SBI is taking a look at a suspected homemade bomb found in a Waynesville apartment. WLOS-TV reports a man found the device while clearing out a unit on Camelot Drive last Friday. The person who made the bomb could be facing charges, but it's unclear if anyone has been identified. No one was injured.

Thousands Raised For Macon County Libraries

(Macon County, NC) -- An increase in funding for Macon County libraries is being covered by local donations. The Citizen-Times reports a citizen was able to help raise 30-thousand-dollars, which will help increase wages for nearly 30 employees in three libraries. This comes after commissioners decided not to add the requested funding into budget after one board member complained about a June Pride Month display at one library.

Suspect Arrested After Long Chase Through Charlotte

(Charlotte, NC) -- A suspect is expected to face charges in a hours-long police chase in Charlotte. Officers initially started pursuing the suspect after he allegedly stole an SUV yesterday. He led the CMPD on an erratic chase through Charlotte and into South Carolina before returning to the Queen City, crashing into several cars and stealing others. The chase finally ended after around two hours at East and South boulevards.

Catawba County Woman Arrested For Brother's Murder

(Catawba County, NC) -- A Catawba County woman is accused of killing her brother. Investigators say the suspect ran over her brother with a truck at a Highway 321 gas station this week. She was arrested on murder charges, but her family says it was self-defense. A bond hearing will be held today.

The latest infection was identified in Wake County, which followed the first cases reported in Mecklenburg and Hayward counties. The patient is reportedly isolating at home while county health officials work to identify anyone who may have had contact with the individual. The CDC is reporting 560-cases of the disease nationwide.
