Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James intends to remain with the team beyond the February 6 trade deadline following the surprising blockbuster three-team trade that shipped center Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Dončić, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NBA senior insider Chris Haynes.

"League sources informed me that LeBron James intends to remain a member of the Los Angeles Lakers past the February 6 trade deadline," Haynes confirmed. "So even though the Lakers were able to pull off one of the biggest trades in recent history by acquiring Luka Dončić and moving A.D. to Dallas, LeBron James plans to stay with the Lakers.

Haynes noted that the Lakers "were very appreciative of the professionalism displayed by" James and his agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, who also represents Davis which "made this process a seamless process."

Davis joined the Lakers in 2019 and won a championship alongside James during their first season together. The 31-year-old is averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 42 games.

Dončić, 25, widely regarded as one of the NBA's best players, hasn't appeared in a game since December 25. The Slovenian native was averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 22 games.
